Letters Home from a WWII Soldier

Reading in the Barracks.jpg

Private Dorance "Dip" Alquist served in the Army during the entirety of WWII and dutifully wrote letters and took photographs to document his experience.

This project aims to bring those letters and images out of the attic and into the world.

“It seems that a person entering the Army life has to go thru a period of adjustment that’s kind of bewildering. Everything is so different from civilian life...”
