Dear Dorance:
All day today we’ve been concentrating on you, hoping you’ll wire us on how you come out at O.C.S., and lo! And behold! At 4:30 the wire came with the good news. Congratulations! Just thought I’d write a few lines so you’d get it before you left Fort Bragg. It probably will be a while before we’ll have an address so we can write you. Hope you get it, if not, it won’t matter. Bet you’ll hate to part with your buddies at Ft. Bragg, it must seem almost like home to you by this time, 1 ½ years there.
Daddy said to tell you he’s been saluting your picture for the last week, no kidding! Practising up. Too bad you won’t have more time so you could swing by home on the way. Anyhow it’s awful cold here now. Going to be 15° below, weatherman says.
Daddy’s eye is fine. Good as new. Hasn’t been fishing for a couple of weeks but is anxious to go again. With someone that’s got some gas.
Well Daddy wants to go out and get some evening papers so will close so he can mail this soon as possible. Hope you have a nice trip & lots of luck to you & write when you can. We’re pulling for you & hoping you are feeling good.
Love,
Mother Dad
