Dear Mom & Dad: -
This is going to be a short one cuz it’s late & I’m sorely in need of sleep. I just came back from town on pass and naturally didn’t get to bed very early last night. Next week we’re going to be tied up in our training & I won’t be able to write at all, so I wanted to get this one off tonight.
Things are going about the same here, so I have nothing new to tell you. Haven’t received my clothes yet, but don’t really expect them for another 3 weeks or so. Hope they get here in time for me to get some use out of them. I’m still wearing borrowed pinks.
Fri. night we had an officers dance in the town hall of a nearby small town. Gene Eckroth & I took our two local “steadies”, the Langridge sisters, Lillian & Winsome (they’re the two we play tennis with on their farm). They are also two of the best dancers in this country. We had a great time cuz the music was good & the floor not a bit crowded. We got the girls in at a reasonable hour for they had to get up at 5 A.M. & milk the cows. They’re really putting-out for their country – don’t you think. They do all the work now that their brothers used to do before they enlisted. One bro is a prisoner of war in Germany.
How’d Walt come out with his Xmas trees – did he get stuck with any left overs? Your idea about the Greeting cards displayed on the landing wall sounds pretty clever. Too bad I can’t be there to take a picture of it.
Has Daddy been fishing any more lately to save on ration points? Bet you don’t have to coax him much to make him do that duty.
How’s the snowfall this winter so far – deep enough for good skiing? I’ve forgotten what the stuff looks like even.
Well, the eyes are starting to droop so I must say good night. Will write again as soon as I can. Hope you’re both O.K.
Love, Dorance
