Dear Mom & Dad –

The big news at the moment seems to be the landing on Leyte in the Philippines. Bet you thought I was in on that one. Nope – wrong again. Maybe in time we’ll get our chance, but don’t worry about that – I’ll let you know.

Today was a lazy warm day – I just sorta slept it away. Went to church this morning and then did a little reading. This afternoon I listened to a direct broadcast (between snoozing) of the Ohio State & great Lakes football game. It was really a treat to hear the cheers & excitement of a game once again – wonder how long it will be ‘till I see one again?

Training goes on from day to day as usual. Last week we went out to the range & fired our pistols and other small arms. I had a contest with my roommate on total score – lost by 5 pts. It cost me exactly two beers.

Last night a few of us took a ride down the road to one of the outfits where they were showing Bing Crosby in “Going My Way.” It surely is all it’s cracked up to be – don’t miss it. Our Bn is scheduled to get it in a week or two so I’ll no doubt see it again.

Got 3 rolls of film to develop now. I must get busy on them one of these nights. Hate to miss a show though.
