Dear Mom & Dad: -

It’s Sunday morning & I guess as good a time as any to write a letter home – even tho I don’t have much news at the moment.

I’ve caught up pretty well with my back correspondence now. And now I’m just going to sit back & wait for some more to answer. The mail has been scarce this week. Expect a big bunch of it one of these days.

Loper drove up from his base (about 50 miles away) last night to visit me. I tried to get down to see him but just couldn’t get the opportunity. We had a very nice two hour chat & then he had to start back. Roge looks good but is pretty pale as he has a desk job that keeps him inside most of the time. By the way he is now a 1st Lt. so you can see he really fell into a nice deal. I’m planning to take a ride down to see him & Lee some afternoon next week.

I was up in an airplane last Thursday for the second time in my long & eventful life. The first time incidently was at least ten years ago at Wold Chamberlain field. I have a couple of friends here at a nearby airstrip, who took me up in a Fairchild. Boy, it was not one of those dollar for ten minute rides either. We were up for almost an hour & made all kinds of maneuvers. It was really fun – felt giddy only once, when we were diving on the Bn. Camp area. We went up to 2000 ft. & then went into a few stalls. The plane climbs until it stops in mid-air then the nose drops down & the thing takes off for earth. A very odd sensation is created in the pit of the stomach. I hope to get some more rides in the near future.

Well – seeing as I have a couple of duties to perform before going to church, I’ll close & get busy. Am hoping for a letter tonight or tomorrow from you.

Love, Dorance
